Widgetly Reviews Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Widgetly Reviews app for Shopify (the “App”), made by Cracktab (“we,” “us”), collects when a merchant installs it, how we use it, and how it is deleted.
Widgetly Reviews collects product reviews and questions from your shoppers, shows them on your store, and can email customers after a purchase to ask for a review. Because reviews come from people, it stores some of your customers' personal information on your behalf.
1. Information We Collect
Store information
- Your store's domain and basic store details
- The access token Shopify issues when you install the app, and the email of the staff member who installed it
- Your app settings and preferences
Reviews and questions from shoppers
- Reviewer name and email, star rating, review title and text, and whether they recommend the product
- Photos and videos shoppers attach to a review
- Questions shoppers ask, with their name and email, and your answers
- Helpful votes on reviews, stored with a random browser token, not a name or email
Orders, for review requests
- For paid orders: order number, customer name and email, and the products bought, so a review request can be sent if you turn this on
Email settings
- The sender name and email you set up, and the SMTP password or Resend API key you enter so the app can send review requests from your address
Imported reviews
- Review files you upload to import (CSV, JSON or text). The file is read once to extract the reviews and is not kept; the imported reviews are stored like any other review
2. How We Use It
We use this information only to run the App for you:
- Show approved reviews, photos, videos and Q&A on your store
- Let you approve, reject, feature and answer reviews and questions in the app
- Send review request emails after a purchase, if you turn this on
- Read review files you import and turn them into reviews
We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who We Share It With
We share data only with the services the App needs to work:
- Shopify: reading products, orders and customers, and serving the review blocks through theme app extensions.
- DigitalOcean: hosting the app and its database.
- Anthropic: files you import are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to extract the review details. Only files you choose to import are sent.
- Your email provider (SMTP) or Resend: sending review request emails, using the account you connect.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
4. How Long We Keep It
- Reviews, questions and settings are kept while the app is installed.
- When you uninstall, all of your store's data is deleted, including reviews, questions, review requests and email settings.
- When a customer asks to be deleted, Shopify tells us and we delete that customer's reviews, questions and review requests. When a customer asks for their data, we prepare it for you through Shopify.
5. If You Are a Shopper
If you left a review or asked a question on a store that uses Widgetly Reviews, that store is responsible for your information and we process it on its behalf. To see, correct or delete it, contact the store, or email us and we will help the store respond.
6. Your Rights
You can change or delete your settings in the App at any time, and uninstalling the App removes your store's data as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the CCPA or other laws to access, correct, export or delete your information. Email privacy@cracktab.com and we will respond within 30 days.
We handle Shopify's required privacy requests (customer data requests, customer deletion and store deletion) for this App.
7. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access controls on our hosting providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
8. International Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Children
The App is for merchants and is not intended for anyone under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change how the App handles data, we will update this page and its date. For significant changes we will also tell you in the App or by email.
